A small correction:

I had to go back into the Freddi II post and correct the science section because I had misremembered The Constant episode about the experiment with the kids. The first language experiment was not debunked because the island it was supposed to take place on was occupied. An island was not involved. I confused Fred’s experiment with somebody else’s.

But there was another detail I had read from a book about the sixth Crusade that I wish I could have added. It was that, as he was excommunicated at that point for delaying the crusade, the Knights Templar had the uncomfortable position of trying to provide support without looking like they were. They deliberately trailed behind his army by a day in order to look like they were totally doing their own crusade.

I could swear I read it. But I have already misremembered something, and it really didn’t fit in the section.
