Coming Soon: The First Book Of Forensics

It wasn’t as though using the physical sciences to solve crimes was unheard of before the late 1200’s. Surgeons and midwives regularly testified in court regarding the facts of case using their expertise well before this. Likewise, there is testimony about physical evidence from people who were assigned to find a criminal.

The issue was that the European way of judging a crime was all over the map. Who was supposed to investigate, their authority, and what they were expected to do could be made up as they went along. Forensics wasn’t as systematized.

China had a different system, and from it came ‘The Washing Away of Wrongs.’

I ordered a translation. It was a whopping $30 on Books-a-Million. Looking forward to another drop in the history books.

On an equally exciting note, ‘Our Fake History’ is busting myths about the Salem Witchcraft trials, and yesterday’s podcast was all about context.

I love context. Context is the glue that keeps me together. I am so looking forward to next week’s podcast.
