Helping Mom, Part Two

So, my mother has the worst luck with computers, and I help her sometimes to unscramble the results of that luck. Some of it is easy to fix, and some of it just leaves me scratching my head and thinking ‘HUH!?’

She wrote a book and uploaded it to Kindle believing that it was in good shape.

It wasn’t. The charts were moved around, and there were a couple pages left empty. I thought that was from the work moving from an OD to a PDF. On her laptop, the PDF was scrambled exactly as it was on the hardcopy version of her book.

I emailed myself a copy of the PDF and prepared to start converting and fiddling.

I downloaded it and looked at it on my computer at home, and it now looks fine. The charts are fine, and the empty pages are in different spots.

Again, ‘HUH?’

The heck is going on here?

Is it her laptop? It’s her laptop, isn’t it? Or my mother is cursed with her computers. Why is this happening?
