Slogging Through A Losing Streak
Well, I’m not making 90K words in two months.
I’m at 70K words and unable to muster the enthusiasm necessary to bust out 1700 words a day, especially after helping Mom with her issues and long days at work.
This is fine. The story will definitely be longer that 90K anyway. I’m halfway through and not even at the point where the driver’s sister with the missing leg tries to marry her boyfriend. It’s coming along, and I’m not pushing it.
In other news:
- Discovered that Easter was a multi-day event in the Middle Ages and that the first mention of painted Easter Eggs dates back to the 2nd century AD. They were painted red and come from a country whose name starts with M. It’s not coming to me now. I need to check before I come back to you folks with the good news.
2. Did you know that the spinning wheel wasn’t introduced to Europe until the 1280's? They were invented in India and slowly moved up the Silk Road. And people were still using the earlier way to spin, a distaff and drop spindle, for centuries afterwards because the thread the wheel created tended to fray.
- I really need to write about the book, ‘Centuries of Childhood.’ It’s a trip on many levels.
