You Really Can’t Step in the Same River Twice
This is the same creek, three years apart. It is an ever-evolving part of the landscape. On this glorious calm Sunday morning, after a series of storms, I wandered down the bike path. The creek has been part of the bike path as long as I’ve lived here. For a while, the water level was a bare trickle between stinking piles of gravel. The creek filling up isn’t just pretty; it is a relief.
And I have pictures from the creek that span the almost 20 years that I have been here. Realizing how radically different something so intimately familiar can is a reminder to slow down and enjoy these moments before whatever is awaiting us. Storms will come, and maybe that is a good thing for the landscapes we cherish.
No great philosophy here, just some rest.
